I was so lost. In fact, I had never heard of diastasis, none of my friend had this issue.

I thought it was normal to have the belly.

I thought it was because I gained a lot of weight.

As a new mom caring a newborn who doesn't sleep through the night, I had no time and no energy to think about my belly.

But one day, I was invited to a friend's baby 100th day party, I couldn't find any clothes to hide my belly.

Here's how it works & what you will be doing in each of the 3 phases of the program

phase 1:

"Foundation and connection"

This phase is about mind to muscles connection, so it will awake your deep core muscles to work with you. We will lay a strong foundation on your posture, form, c-section scar, core pressure, breathing, core engagement, and more.

THE SPECIFICS OF THIS PHASE:

  • This is the most important phase of the program. Without this foundation, everything you add on top will not be effective. 
  • ​​This phase will take anywhere 3 to 6 weeks, usually 4 weeks, to have a good grapse depending on your situation.
  • ​Best to do this phase 2 times per day, workout is between 15 to 20 minutes each time. 

phase 2:

"build strength"

After the foundation you set, this phase will help with your agility and stability. It will involve more cardio so you can enjoy fun activities with your babies while your DR is healing. DR healing isn't about boring exercise lying on the floor!

THE SPECIFICS OF THIS PHASE:

  • You will learn how to engage your core through various faster, fun exercises such as cardio, and how to modify to suit your strength and weakness. This is where the magic will happen. 
  • ​​This phase will take anywhere 4 to 12 weeks, depending on how your core muscle is responding and how much weight you need to lose.
  • Most workouts are easy follow-along and about 35 minutes long.

"Tone and Strong"

This is where you are going have a breakthrough, finally close the gap and gain solid strength on your core. You are going to tighten up the muscles and feeling confident.

  • This phase we will use dumbbells to help you tone up and give your core more resistant to work with.

  What's the difference between investing into your program and investing into seeing a physiotherapist on a regular basis? 
First, I would highly recommend you to see a Women's Health Physio for one visit at least. She can do a hands-on diagnose and internal exam to check the health of your pelvic floor.

But here are several differences seeing your physio regularly vs joining a holistic program to heal your DR

1) An experienced Women's Health Physio who specializes in diastasis recti is usually hard to find, and most often than not, you have to go on a wait list.
Almost all my clients have visited with a physiotherapist prior coming to me, and most of them say that the physio usually dance around the core, and don't focus enough on healing the DR. Some don't even oversee your exercise in the clinic, and give you a piece of exercise paper to bring home and follow, that's my case!

2) Be prepared to take time to travel to and from the office, and have a 45 minutes visit every week for several months . If you visit continuously for 3 months, you can roughly calculate how much it can add up.

3) Beside the 1 hour visit/week. What are you going to do the rest of the times before you visit her again? What if you don't know if you are doing the exercise right, what if you experience other symptoms? What if you want to do XYZ exercise? What do you do?

4) Physio focuses on rehabilitating your core, whereas with me I approach your core and total body holistically so you are going to heal your DR, get fit overall and lose weight. In addition, I also provide DR-specific nutrition guidance and meal plans.

  How early can i start postpartum? 
If there is no complication from childbirth, there is no abnormal bleeding, or other conditions, and most importantly you are feeling good and ready for some light exercises and nutrition guidance, then you can start as early as 6 weeks.
